Benefits of Partnering with VCS

QUALIFIED TENANTS
We serve approximately 600 veteran families per year. Our goal is to house all eligible veterans in San Diego and Imperial County as quickly as possible to end their homeless situation. Therefore, we will continually have qualified tenants ready to move into your properties. And, this may help reduce your advertising costs and turnover rates.

SECURITY DEPOSITS
VCS has found that many veterans are able to afford the monthly rent, but have difficulty saving enough money for a security deposit. As a result, we may help veterans with this one-time payment or make a referral to our partnering agencies to assist with the security deposit.

RENTAL & LEASE AGREEMENTS
Our qualified program staff may assist you with creating rental and roommate agreements. We can also provide rental application templates and other forms beneficial to rental property owners and managers.

RENTAL ASSISTANCE
Most of our veteran families have a stable source of income. Some veteran families may require temporary financial assistance while we work with them to attain and maintain housing stability. We evaluate each veteran family for rental assistance eligibility and provide the payment directly to you. Our policy is to ensure that all veteran families requesting rental assistance demonstrate financial sustainability by the time our assistance ends. Feel assured that the Veteran family has a plan to continue timely and full rental payments upon exiting our program.

VCS STAFF SUPPORT
Our program staff will offer support and ensure your needs are met within the scope of our program. Our Housing Coordinators and Case Coordinators will provide supportive services to each veteran family. Regular follow-up with tenants and with you allows us to assist with a veteran’s successful transition into your housing community.

SPECIAL EVENTS
VCS may hold events for networking and appreciation of rental property owners and managers that house our heroes.

EMPLOYERS AND RECRUITERS

VCS’ employment program, HVRP, strives to meet our goal of 85 veteran employment placements per year. VCS’ HVRP staff understand the unique qualification and needs of the veterans we serve and structure to meet those needs.

VCS staff provide training and/or referrals that are targeted to the specific industries, occupations, and skills that are in demand locally. Training services can be provided in-house, through partners in the community, or through the American Job Center.

VCS’ HVRP staff collaborate with public and private employers (YOU, OUR PARTNERS!) at all levels (federal, state and local) to provide supportive services and access to housing.
